Pastiche :

Pastiche is a form of art that imitates a work of art that imitates the style, techniques, or elements of another work of art. It can use to pay homage to a previous artist or work of art. Pastiche can be used to create a new and original work of art, or it can be used to simply celebrate the original work.

• Joker ( 2019 ) :

Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker is another masterpiece that released before the Covid - 19 pandemic, which have been impactful to the audience since then. The film is about a failed comedian Arthur Fleck wanders the streets of Gotham City, lonely and alone in a throng, searching for someone to connect with. In an attempt to feel like he's a part of the world around him, Arthur projects a mask on top of the one he paints for his day job as a clown. Tormented, ignored, and left out of society, Fleck slowly spirals into insanity and becomes the mastermind behind the Joker crime syndicate. 

In terms of pastiche, Joker is a pastiche between two films, which are Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy by Martin Scorsese. We merely get a watered-down attempt at a Scorsese film by doing this and not incorporating other inspirations into the pastiche. The fact that the two movies Phillips selected for his pastiche are companion pieces doesn't help either; in fact, it makes the storytelling diversity even less strong. Both of these tales center on a solitary individual whose spiral into insanity results in acts of bloodshed. Thus, we have Phillips imitating Martin Scorsese. It's similar to purchasing vanilla ice cream, adding chocolate syrup, and blending it to make “chocolate” ice cream, when the fuller flavor may be had by simply purchasing chocolate ice cream.

       Seventeen - F*ck My Life ( 2023 )

Act as the 2nd title song of their 10th extended play "FML", F*ck My Life is a old school hip-hop based rhythm song that brings a upbeat yet tranquil vibe towards both the track and the music video. It's amazing how a clashing codework can be applied to a drum sound that has been given a more analog feel. The lyrics discussed living a tired life. Become the world's lone moron; lead a life devoid of purpose, direction, or passion. but vow to get back up and defend my one life. 

F*ck My Life is also an example of pastiche since most of the scenes for the MV is inspired by "The Truman Show" in 1998. The MV portray 13 guys are trapped into the world that they're watched constantly, which is corresponding to what happen in the Truman Show, where the world Truman Burbank currently live at that time was an artificial television "reality show" world that the audience watch , not the reality world that we know. 13 of them are shown in the music video dealing with serious problems in their lives that seem unsolvable, which perfectly captures the mood of the song. However, after regaining their sense of self, they made the decision to look elsewhere in this vast universe for their genuine identities.

Parody :

Parody is a work of art that imitates the style, techniques, or elements of another work of art for humorous or critical effect. It is a way of poking fun at the original work or making a satirical statement about it. Parody can be used to ridicule the original work, to expose its flaws, or to simply provide a bit of comic relief.

• Jojo Rabbit ( 2019 ) :

Jojo Rabbit is also a film that released before the attack of Covid - 19 pandemic. Directed by Taika Waititi, this film is a mixed between political aspects and comedy, which have impressed my reviewers and brings him an Oscar on Adapted Screenplay. This film is a parody that utilizes humor to attack the Nazi government, fascism, and war. The novel Caging Skies by Christine Leunens, which is set in Nazi Germany in 1945 as the war is about to end, served as the inspiration for the plot. The film's dramatic irony lies in the fact that while the audience is aware that the Nazi dictatorship would eventually fall, 10-year-old Jojo, a member of the Nazi youth, is unaware of this fact. His imaginary pal, a burlesque portrayal of Adolf Hitler, serves as his daily guide. When Jojo learns that his mother is concealing a Jewish girl named Elsa in their home, his allegiance to Nazi Germany is put to the test. Jojo's blind fanaticism is called into doubt when he finds out about Elsa.

Parody in this movie mostly aimed to critique the Nazi Germany. Waititi's humorous burlesque portrayal of Hitler masks its critique. Waititi's portrayal of Hitler is realistic, despite the fact that he appears utterly ridiculous at first. In actuality, Waititi portrays the romanticized portrayal of Hitler that a 10-year-old child who has lived under the Nazi dictatorship's brainwashing would have envisaged. Jojo sees Hitler as a closest friend and mentor rather than as the world's greatest leader. Hitler is thus presented as a gregarious figure who merely desires for Jojo to be the “bestest, most loyal little Nazi” (Jojo Rabbit 00:01:54). Waititi's ridiculous spoof of Hitler undermines his power and laughs off its repression (Baym, Jones 4). Through humor, parodies deprive Hitler of his ideological authority while hiding their true aim, which is political critique.

       Vanh Leg - Học Viện Youtube ( 2020 ) 

Vanh Leg is a famous Youtuber who created Parody music for 9 years. His parody music videos mostly contain over 300 million and become one of the most memorable music creator in the hearts of fans. This is his newest song, which released 3 years ago after his long hiatus from 2018, marked his first ever comeback. This music video is a parody video which indicates about the current state of  Youtube in 2020, specifically Vietnamese Youtube situation. 2020 can be considered as the period when Youtube creators are most active and a tons of Youtube channels were established and distributed difference contents. However, there are still contents that have triggered, nonsense that bring absolutely no purpose, plus harms to their own body. Actors in this video imitated all trending Youtuber at that time, along with a message about how content creators job rise and how it becomes more toxic months by months.
