INTIAL IDEAS AND PLOTS

Ideas is one of the most important aspects on the production of my music video. As for making sure of the messages and visuals can be delivered precisely and can actually touch their heart. All of the general ideas for both the messages and visuals have been generally presented in this slideshow.

OVERALL MEANING OF THE SONG :

A song about the state of having the guts to stand out from the crowd in a discordant culture and having the strength to refuse everything.

GENERAL PLOT : 

There will be 2 people, as two different personas, will appear in this music video. One is the butterfly, which represents the heart. With a delicate glass - like wings, it will dance (contemporary dancing) to keep the heart alive, and also bring more energy to the human. Another one is the human (me) representing the head (which is the reality).  As for the psychology references, we have been manipulated by the societal forms and standards, which is really irritating. In order to have happiness and success, there are some particular times when we have to achieve everyone’s expectations and follow standards, or in other word is to do just like everybody else. The butterfly gets weakened throughout the song, as the consequences of the manipulation from the society, which represented by the excessive lighting. In the end, the music video just wants to give empathy to anyone that has the same problem and I want to give them a source of comfort and understanding. 

One more thing that I also want to mention is that in the post - credit scene, the butterfly will revive again, through metamorphosis, which is quite opposite from the science fact. The butterfly escaped the cocoon and started a new life, however, the strange thing here is the wings aren’t there, but the dragon scale appeared instead.

INITIAL IDEAS : 

Currently, I have 2 ideas, which in following the song were quite similar in terms of technical filming and editing. The general ideas for both consists of a dark scheme of color, a combination between warm tone colors - red, yellow, orange, brown and cool tone colors - navy, green, violet and gray, beside black and white. There will be contemporary dancing between actual scenes of myself lip-syncing and acting, which is kinda obvious. The dancer will have butterfly wings and start dancing, as to represent the heart is still alive. The wings will be its source of living, which leads to the fact that the weaker the wing, the more deadly it’s. This represents the deprivation in terms of emotion and feelings, the manipulation and pressure that we got somehow gave us traumas, depression and other mental issues. 

Furthermore, there will be a break between the bridge and the last part of the song. The aim of the montage is to give the audience the conclusion about how the human figure in the music video feels.  The color grading is still the same, however, there will be no music and try to make use of the natural sound as possible. The montage will be a distraction element, which at first gives the audience a chance to think about what she will do in the montage and then reveal the answers at the end.
